Theo van Wyk is South Africa's first graduate with an organ recital degree and the first person of colour to earn a doctorate in musicology in South Africa - incidentally with a thesis on the registration instructions of a German Baroque master. During his studies, Van Wyk was a violinist in the university string ensemble and has further degrees in piano and choral conducting. He now passes on this extensive musical education to students at the University of Pretoria and is involved with SAKOV (Southern African Church and Concert Organists Society). He gives concerts in southern Africa, the USA and many countries in Europe and frequently performs world premieres. -- Theo van Wyk ist der erste Absolvent Südafrikas mit einem Orgel-Konzertexamen und hat als erste Person of colour einen Doktorgrad in Musikwissenschaften in Südafrika erlangt – übrigens mit einer Arbeit über die Registrieranweisungen eines deutschen Barockmeisters. Während seines Studiums war van Wyk Geiger im universitären Streicher-Ensemble und hat weitere Abschlüsse in Klavier und Chorleitung. Diese umfassende musikalische Bildung gibt er mittlerweile an die Studierenden an der University of Pretoria weiter und engagiert sich der SAKOV (Southern african church and concert organists society). Er gibt Konzerte im südlichen Afrika, in den USA und vielen Ländern Europas und spielt immer wieder Uraufführungen.
